1984 Wichita Eagle-Beacon Card Checklist Part #5
The updates are much less interesting recently. This time around, we have a couple Houston Astros players and basketball Hall-of-Famer Magic Johnson (Basketball HOF 2002). There have been lots of soccer players and minor league baseball players featured in the set.

1984 Wichita Eagle-Beacon Card Checklist Part #4
Here is the latest installment to the 1984 Wichita Eagle-Beacon checklist. This grouping appears to follow a pattern of Professional Baseball Player, Soccer Player, and Minor League Baseball Player. There was only one Hall of Fame player in this group: Goose Gossage (Baseball HOF 2008).

1990 Donruss Blue / White Test Issue Variation
I've always wondered if a particular card in the 1990 Donruss Blue / White Test Issue could be found in both blue and white versions. It never really mentioned in the SCD if they could be found both ways. I no longer need to wonder. On eBay this week someone listed Alan Trammell / Mike Stanley and Carl Yastrzemski / Willie McGee cards where each player has blue and white versions. Currently, I've only found the Cal Ripken, Jr. card in a white version. See the images below:

1984 Wichita Eagle-Beacon Card Checklist Part #3
Here is a the latest update to the 1984 Wichita Eagle-Beacon checklist. The highlights include Eric Davis on the Wichita Aeros, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Basketball HOF 1995), and Tom Kite (Golf HOF 2004). I also uncovered the strangest names yet with the soccer players Zeee Kapka and Tasso Koutsoukos.

1997 Score Board Talk N' Sports Phone Cards $1000 Samples

1997 Score Board Talk N' Sports Phone Cards $1000 Samples #1 Cal Ripken, Jr. [FRONT] |
For some time I have been looking for a Cal Ripken, Jr. 1997 Score Board Talk N' Sports $1000 Phone Card and have never even seen one. According to the Beckett annual guide there were only 10 serial numbered cards produced. Just a few days ago, I found a copy on eBay for $8.99 plus shipping and was ecstatic! Surely this could not be what I had been looking for all these years at that price. It wasn't. However, it was something I had never seen before either. It was an unnumbered sample card. I have no idea how many of these samples are actually out there and they are not in any guide. Instead of a serial number and phone number to call to use the phone card, it had the word "SAMPLE" printed on the back. I have verified 3 of the 5 cards in the set exist. I think the full checklist is as follows and is the same as the regular $1000 phone card set:

- Eddie George
I've noticed a number of these phone cards without serial numbers and other information missing on the backs on eBay over the past few months.
